Welcome Ben Sheehan
19 Oct 2021
Ben joins our Hobart design team and takes on Cumulus’ Building Information Modelling Coordinator role.
Having recently worked on large-scale social housing, office, and low-density housing projects in Germany, Ben’s local and International experience has also allowed him to collaborate on designs promoting sustainable construction alternatives — such as high-rise buildings featuring mass-produced modular timber systems.
Part of his design work is inspired by the simple construction techniques of traditional Japanese architecture, which he feels have been executed so neatly and perfectly that they become works of art.
But Ben’s design approach also focuses on how a space interacts with and highlights its context. “I think that the best architecture responds to its surroundings and reminds the inhabitant of the natural environment of which they are an immediate part,” he explains.
Beyond architecture, Ben is an avid cyclist and sailor, and dabbles in painting when he gets the chance.
Welcome to the team Ben!
Ben has a Master of Architecture (MArch) and a Bachelor of Architectural Design (BArch) from the University of Queensland.
