We Welcome Our New Architect Dmitry Troyanovsky
24 July 2022
Joining our Launceston studio after spending the past few years in Sydney as a Senior Architect, Dmitry brings considerable experience in the architecture industry having worked on several multi-residential, education, cultural, and commercial projects.
His diverse designs include shop fit outs for bespoke businesses on busy shopping lanes to the award-winning, half-a-billion dollar Walsh Bay Arts Precinct development in Sydney Harbour.
Having graduated with a Bachelor of Design from Newcastle University, and after gaining a Master of Architecture from the University of Tasmania, Dmitry focused on his passion surrounding timber design and attended Finland’s Aalto University to complete a specialisation in wood architecture, engineering and material sciences.
His passion for timber has flowed on other projects and roles, including his time as a research assistant at the University of Tasmania's Centre for Sustainable Architecture with Wood, as well as the establishment of his own practice — Made of Wood — which focuses on wood-based architecture, furniture, and art installations.
For Dmitry, architecture is essentially a built narrative that tells a story. He draws inspiration for his designs from the melodic and mesmerising work of Japanese carpenters and sees the possibilities of complex timber designs that lean on interlocking components instead of mechanical fixings or adhesives.
Welcome to the team Dmitry!
