The Goulburn Street Affordable Housing Project was conceived as a micro village, articulated through clustering forms in response to the surrounding built environment.

The development consists of 25 apartments, configured in three parts – a central block, and two end blocks addressing Bathurst and Goulburn Street.

Red brick is employed as a sedentary base to the buildings to create a robust and tactile reflection of the heritage context. In contrast, upper level facades utilise a selection of complementary brick tones to symbolise a sense of community.

Internally, the apartments maximise indoor environment quality though considered orientation, generous private balconies, and access to natural light and ventilation.

Each apartment is universally accessible with the aim of meeting the Gold level of Liveable Housing Design Standards.
