The existing tenants of this well known Launceston office building first approached us with a desire to create a healthy new working environment. They described a calm, comfortable new space where they could work in groups without disruptive noise build up and independently with confidence in their privacy.

We set about improving the building’s poor ‘health’ by introducing functional, collaborative workspaces with access to natural light, fresh air and improved acoustics. The highly compartmentalised office space was reconfigured into a series of neighbourhood-like clusters, private spaces and dedicated staff hubs to promote connection and communication between small and larger working teams.

Priority has been given to natural materials. Carefully selected local timbers can be seen within the wall linings, ceiling baffles and fixed joinery. In reference to the ongoing construction sustainability, all timber fittings have been installed to allow for the future reconfiguration or reuse of materials.

Finally, a calming, neutral colour pallette replaces the dated yellows, oranges and blues seen in the original interior. A selection of soft tones and refined textures reflect the considered, professional nature of the working environment.
