Dal Zotto Trattoria and Cellar Door

King Valley, Victoria Unbuilt

A cellar door shaped by the valley it sits in.

Dal Zotto Wines is one of King Valley's most established family vineyards, with deep roots in Italian winemaking tradition. Our concept for the site brings together a new cellar door, restaurant and courtyard, alongside retail and office spaces - all drawn from the character of the valley itself.

The design takes its cues from the old tobacco drying kilns that are scattered through the King Valley landscape. Their simple, sculptural forms and weathered textures give the region a quality unlike anywhere else in Australia. We wanted the architecture to carry that same feeling - grounded in place, honest in its materials, and distinct to this part of the world.

Italian heritage, Australian landscape.

We have worked closely with the Dal Zotto family to find an authentic balance between the food and wine, the surrounding landscape, and the family's Italian heritage. The result is a concept that feels immersive without being contrived - a place where visitors can experience the vineyard, the produce and the story of the family as a single, connected thing.

For us, projects like this are about more than a building. They are an opportunity to strengthen a brand through architecture, and to create visitor experiences that genuinely connect people to a place and its provenance.
