Who We Are
Cumulus is a B Corp certified architecture and interior design studio with offices in Melbourne, Adelaide, Launceston and Hobart.
Established in 2011, the studio is led by Peter Walker, Kylee Scott and Todd Henderson, alongside a national team of 35+ collaborators and associates.
Our offices operate as a single entity, ensuring a collaborative and realised response to all projects. From ideation through to revision, we use our collective resources to form, critique, and test new ideas, drawing inspiration from our environment to inform our decisions.
From renovations to large-scale urban projects, we collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and communities to gain a greater understanding of the brief, ensuring all projects are affordable, sustainable, and livable.
Through this exploration by collaboration, we can create spaces that respond and contribute to our environment, leaving lasting positive legacies.
Meet Our Team →What We Do
We offer full architectural services, from early site assessment and concept design through to documentation, construction and post-occupancy evaluation. We see projects through - not just to a set of drawings, but to a built outcome that works.
Our experience spans residential, commercial, tourism, heritage, adaptive reuse, education and community projects. Each one is different in scale and ambition, but the approach is consistent: careful research, close conversation with our clients, and a design process that is open, tested and grounded in the realities of site, budget and program.
Sustainability is built into that process from the start, not added as an afterthought. We work with each client to find the right environmental response for their project - informed by what is achievable within the budget, the site and the technology available. We are not interested in overpromising. We are interested in making considered choices about materials, energy, longevity and impact, and in getting better at it with every project.
Interior design is a natural extension of our architectural work. We carry the same thinking into material selection, joinery, lighting and furnishing - ensuring the interior experience is as considered as the building that contains it.
We regularly work alongside specialist consultants across Australia, coordinating services including master planning, feasibility studies, heritage consultation, environmental design, cost analysis and contract administration.

Our Commitments
We are a Certified B Corporation - part of a global community of businesses meeting high standards of social and environmental performance. Our studio also holds third-party certification in ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety) and ISO 9001 (Quality Management).
These certifications are not endpoints. They provide a framework for continuous improvement - a way of measuring where we are and holding ourselves to account as we work towards where we want to be.

Four Studios. One Practice.
We have studios in Hobart, Launceston, Melbourne and Adelaide, but we work as a single team. Every project draws on the experience and thinking of the whole studio, regardless of where it starts. This gives us flexibility in the scale of work we take on, and means our clients benefit from a depth of resource and review that goes well beyond their local team.
It also reflects how we were formed. We began in Tasmania - beautiful, isolated, expensive to build in, and small enough that your reputation is everything. That shaped a particular kind of discipline: careful with budgets, considered with materials, and deeply connected to the communities and ancient landscapes we work within. That way of working stayed with us as we grew. It shapes how we approach every project, wherever it is.
