Balfour Street Terrace has been featured in Domain, where writer Jackie Brygel explores how an 1860s terrace and a contemporary addition can sit together as one.

The owners came to us with a simple brief: open the house to light and life without losing what made it special. A new north-facing addition now continues the logic of the original terrace instead of contradicting it. At its heart is a vaulted, curved ceiling that echoes the home's heritage arches and draws changing daylight deep into the house.

Sustainability guided every decision. We did as much as necessary and as little as possible in the heritage wing, and the new wing uses locally sourced, carbon-neutral bricks and other materials chosen to last.

The owners were once considering selling, and now can't imagine leaving.
