Balfour Street Terrace shortlisted in the 2026 AIA Tasmanian Chapter Awards

We are honoured to share that Balfour Street Terrace has been shortlisted in the Residential Architecture - Alterations and Additions category of the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) 2026 Tasmanian Chapter Awards.

An 1860s heritage terrace in northern Tasmania, the brief was to better facilitate family life while retaining the building's heritage character and maximising sun exposure. We took our cues from the building's own language: its symmetry, proportions, arched windows and chimney pot. Locally sourced carbon-neutral bricks, Tasmanian oak and Tasmanian-made plywood feature throughout.
