Our New Social Housing Project Has Received Council Approval

We’re happy to share Queens Walk Housing, our latest social housing project in Tasmanian in collaboration with Housing Choices Australia.

Having received council approval in November, the project involves the expansion of an iconic complex in Hobart. Drawing on Queens Walk’s existing International Style architecture, our contemporary designs for two new buildings and 65 apartments celebrate the complex’s iconic heritage while embracing the individual ways we shape our homes.

“Queens Walk is widely regarded as a distinctive gateway to the heart of Hobart, so it was important to create designs that were respectful of the existing heritage, structures which added to the story of the complex rather than dominating it,” explains project lead and Cumulus designer Rosalyn Bermudez.

The buildings have been designed to integrate with a Queens Walk’s reinvigorated communal green areas. Developed in collaboration with local landscape architects REALMStudios, these reimagined areas include natural playgrounds made from repurposed trees, gravel paths lined with native flora, and productive community gardens.

Developed for Housing Choices Tasmania in partnership with the Tasmanian State Government under the
Community Housing Growth Program, the project aims to provide stable and affordable accommodation for vulnerable Tasmanians.
