A quieter welcome to Collins Street.
The lobby at 66-80 Collins Street had become tired and disconnected from the streetscape around it. Our brief was to bring the entrance back to life - refreshing the materials, improving the relationship between inside and out, and creating a space that felt welcoming without being cluttered. The client's preference was clear: keep the main foyer open and free of traffic, with seating contained to a comfortable nook off the main path of travel.
From the colonnade to the street.
Much of our work focused on the external colonnade and the public interface of the building. New footpath materials extend the material language from the lobby outward, creating a consistency of finish that draws people in rather than marking a hard boundary between street and building. The sculptural artwork at the front of the building was addressed as part of the broader refresh, alongside new planting that softens the colonnade and adds life to what had been a largely hard-surfaced entry. A lighter interior palette, updated lighting and refined signage complete the transformation - small, considered moves that collectively shift the character of the ground plane.
